The Qur'an is the central religious text that was sent down to Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) 1400 years ago. The word Qur'an literally means "recitation". which muslims believe to be a revelation from Allah. It is widely regarded as the finest piece of literature in the Arabic language. Quranic chapters are called Suras and Ayas. This page will help you learn how to read the Qur'an and it has some background knowledge.

The Alphabet
Say each letter a few times and then say it all the way through until you have learnt it off by heart. The alphabet is very important to be able to read the Qur'an.
Now practice saying it without the English transliteration in the wrong order. recite it without looking.
This page shows the different form of the letters. It is important you learn these because in the Qur'an the letters wont always be in the full form. In the exercise section practice them in the wrong order.
Using this page learn the different forms of each letter in the beginning, middle and end. Some letters may look similar so try and learn them.
